Back in December Target notified it's customers that they had been hacked, and that they believed that nearly 40M people have had their information compromised. I was one of those customers that received an email from Target. Up
until then I had heard of the breach but didn't give it to much thought.
On Friday Target notified they're customers via email that an additional 70M people had been compromised raising the total people affected to 110M. I was one of those customers that received an email from Target. My wife having been a victim of identity theft I am very aware of how much work it takes to clear your credit history so I took this threat very serious. I called Target and had them issue myself and my wife new credit cards. Target offered people affected by the breach one year of free credit monitoring.
Identity theft is a real threat to all of us and should be taken as such. Anyone compromised should go to creditmonitoring.target.com and register before April 23, 2014. Activation codes must be redeemed by April 30, 2014.
